“Hearty good wishes for Christmas and the New Year”. It’s been my second year of sharing family history stories via my Untangled blog—thank you for following along.
Historically, postcards might be sent to friends and family in lieu of letters. The 114-year-old Christmas postcard below is addressed by my then 11-year-old great-grandfather, Jack, to his father, my 2x great-grandfather.

Merry Christmas to you too, and your family (present and past) as well. Here’s to a joyful and productive 2026!

Greetings to you too. I have enjoyed reading your posts.
When my aunt died, I asked for her photo collection and among them was a photo of my grandfather’s brother’s sister in law and her husband. On the back it said that they couldnt get home for the holiday but they sent their love to everyone. I recognised them because I also had a wedding photo!
