I love this photo, a large group shot taken at Manresa Hall in Carlow Street, North Sydney in the mid-1920s. Around 200 people are present, with the children all in fancy dress. My grandfather is one of the youngest and dressed as a ‘spring chicken’. You can see him at the bottom left of the picture, in front of everyone else, with a cheeky expression partly hidden by the feathers. Look closely at all the different costumes in the photo, which is almost 100 years old, and try working out what they are. It’s easy to imagine it must have been a fun party!


Nice photo. I don’t have many old photos but when my aunty died I said i wanted her photos. They took me over a year to go through but there were some good ones.
